Living Life… [minus the living]

It finally hit me yesterday.

What am I doing? Why am I here?? How did I even get here???

I felt like I was waking up from one of those super confusing dreams, the kind where you wake up trying to recall how it all went down, how you even got to the place where you ended up. Yea…that’s where I am. Somehow, somewhere along the way, I ended up exactly where I didn’t want to be. For the sake of this blog, let’s call this place Nowhere. And everything that I do in Nowhere will be referred to as Nothing. Play along.

So, here I am. Nowhere. Doing Nothing. And then I woke up. And realized, I could be Anywhere. Doing Anything. Why be here, if it’s not where I want to be? So often, we stay in our Nowhere, because it’s easier to stay there than to try and find Somewhere worthwhile. And we’d rather do Nothing, than try to do Something and fail. In that way, we are living… but we are not LIVING. We are not fulfilling our potential. We are not making a difference. We are not happy.

So, let’s all make a pact. A pact, to live. Because going Somewhere will get you out of Nowhere. And Something is always better than Nothing.

Wish me luck on my journey, as I wish you luck on yours.

I made a decision today. Just now, in fact. From here on out, whenever anyone asks “what do you do?” — I will respond by saying, I am a writer. Because I am. A writer. Writing is what I do, and it is
